Howdy! I’m TJ Dietderich, and I work on the HarperCollins Children’s Books online marketing team. I tweet at @HarperTeen, @HarperChildrens, and a few other corporate accounts. I also manage some of our Facebook fan pages. But that’s only one part of my job. The other part is a lot of research, meetings, memo writing, report filing, and idea-come-upping…with. You can tell I’m one of these sharp social media guru types you keep hearing about. (That was good-natured sarcasm. I’m actually a businesswoman who is here to get books sold; I just happen to do it a different way then the other team members.)
I have a master’s degree in Writing & Publishing from Emerson College in Boston, which means I was about an inch away from becoming an assistant editor. Luckily, I realized that editorial wasn’t my strong suit and took to e-publishing and publicity as a concentration instead. Before that, I earned a B.A. in creative writing at Florida State University. In my long and winding travels, I filled a variety of positions including copyeditor, software debugger, paid researcher, and traveling silver salesman. You can check out my CV here.
My hometown is Port St. Lucie, FL, which you will only have heard of if you’re a Mets fan. “TJ” does not stand for anything; it’s just two letters, and it’s my name (though not the one I was born with). I am a lady, but if you accidentally address your e-mails to Mr. Dietderich I won’t be angry. We all make mistakes.
If you’d like to get in touch with me about my work, my blog, or just to say hello, you can chat with me on Twitter @tjdietderich. Or you can join my network on LinkedIn.
I also contribute once in awhile at The PR Breakfast Club, where the nicest group of flacks you’ll ever meet talk about all sorts of industry stuff.
And finally: This site contains my personal opinions and does not necessarily reflect the views of my employer or its holding companies.
